Come join us and professionally network both in person and virtually in our NYC XP & Agile Meetup Group.  Meet people local to NYC who use Agile: Extreme Programming, Scrum, Kanban, Flight Levels, SAFe, LeSS, Nexus, Scrum@Scale, DAD, etc. to help manage any kind of knowledge work such as loan underwriting, claims, sales, HR, case management, and, yes, software development.

How has the group changed and why?

This group started out in 2007 as a place to discuss eXtreme Programming (XP) and has since grown and evolved to become one of the largest and longest-running meetups about Agile! Not many people talk about XP anymore, but in a sense, it is because XP won!! You will be hard-pressed to find a software team that does not practice most of the principles that XP introduced such as automated unit testing, continuous integration, refactoring, small releases, on-site customer (aka Product Owner), coding standards (usually enforced via linters), and collective code ownership. These practices have in fact become so ubiquitous, that most of us don’t even think of them as “XP practices” anymore. Hooray! For that reason, while we still love to hear about XP, we have expanded our purview to (a/A)gile in all of its forms and, in particular, new and innovative usages. When it was introduced in 1999, XP was innovative, iconic, and controversial, and we have never lost that spirit and drive!

The New York Extreme Programming and Agile Meetup has a particular interest in the application of XP and Agile methods in unique environments and circumstances such as:

• Hospitals
• war zones
• manufacturing
• space missions
• government agencies
• elementary and secondary schools
• households
• hedge funds
• drug discovery
• publishing.

We are also interested in sharing knowledge about Agile transformation efforts (successful or otherwise), applying Agile methods to business strategy, portfolio Kanban, and Value Stream Management (VSM).

We have both virtual and online meetup events and a very active and supportive community. We are always looking for new speakers. First-time speakers are welcome! No matter how modest your efforts may be, we would love to hear about them.
